In 1994, Pastor Gonzalee Martin was called into the service of the Lord to preach and teach His Word. The same year he preached his first sermon on his birthday, which was November 13, at The Tabernacle Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Calvin Perry. In September of 2004, Pastor Martin was ordained under Pastor Samuel Walker, Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, The Moderator of the Northern Indiana District Association along with other Pastors and Ministers of Northern Indiana District Association.
Pastor Martin was born in Edgefield, South Carolina on November 13, 1950. As a young child he was raised in a Christian home by his grandmother who made sure he attended Sunday School and Church each Sunday. While attending Tennessee State University, he was able to take some Theology courses. After been called into the Ministry he also took a course at Fort Wayne Bible College in Urban Theology. Pastor Martin holds two degrees, B.S. from Tennessee State University in Nashville, Tennessee and a M.S. from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee.
In 1969, he married Mazell Still and they was blessed with two children; Modneska L. Perry and Brian Alexander Martin and five grandchildren.
In November of 2004, Tabernacle Baptist Church called him to be their pastor.
As pastor, Rev. Martin, feels that God has placed him in the two most spiritual rewarding positions there is. As an Agricultural Educator for Purdue University, he is responsible for educating farmers on the best method to reap the greatest harvest and as a Pastor, God has called him to feed his sheep so that they can reap the benefits from the greatest gift: Our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. Pastor Martin is very concerned with the physical education as well as the spiritual education of our youth. He works with many youth helping and encouraging them to further their education. He also works with High School Students to obtain Scholarships toward advanced education. In 1992, Rev. Martin formed a non-profit 501 (c)3 foundation called Growth in Agriculture Through Education Inc (G.A.T.E.). This foundation helps create awareness and career opportunities in Agriculture.
By the nature of his job, he is involved in the community along with the urban development of Allen County by serving on the Allen County Plan Commission which he feels blessed to be a part of. Pastor Martin is a member of Saint Mary Lodge #14 and also a member of The United Male Chorus of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
